Executive editor Bajekal departing Time magazine

Naina Bajekal

Naina Bajekal, executive editor and international editor of Time magazine, is departing the publication.

Bajekal has been overseeing world and technology coverage. She is the editor of the Time 100 AI and the co-editor of Time’s Women of the Year list.

“I’m so grateful to have had the chance to build a wonderful team and work with some of the kindest, smartest people in the business,” she wrote on Twitter.

She previously was editorial director of newsroom development and the deputy international editor at Time, based in London. She worked on stories from around the world, with a particular focus on gender and racial justice, climate change and migration. She also led equity, diversity and inclusion across the newsroom to improve transparency and create career pathways.

She holds a degree in English literature and modern languages from the University of Oxford.

Chris Roush

Chris Roush was the dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. He was previously Walter E. Hussman Sr. Distinguished Professor in business journalism at UNC-Chapel Hill. He is a former business journalist for Bloomberg News, Businessweek, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, The Tampa Tribune and the Sarasota Herald-Tribune. He is the author of the leading business reporting textbook "Show me the Money: Writing Business and Economics Stories for Mass Communication" and "Thinking Things Over," a biography of former Wall Street Journal editor Vermont Royster.
