The Wrap seeks a business reporter

TheWrap is seeking a part time business and news writer who can write about financial markets and assist the morning news team with breaking news. You should be well-versed in writing business and financial news, with a specific focus on how it relates to the entertainment and media sectors.

Your copy should be clean, clever and conversational.

Knowledge of AP style and love of a good headline is strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, energetic and capable of multitasking in a real-time news environment. This is a part-time, freelance position.

Required skills:

• At least 5 years experience writing about business for professional outlets
• The ability to quickly verify and cover breaking business news
• Experience reading and reporting on earnings statements
• The ability to report out stories from scratch, including ideating and source-building
• Superior news judgment, with a passion for the business of entertainment
• Proficient and speedy on a CMS such as WordPress
• Ability to crop photographs
• SEO and social media savvy

This position pays $30-35/hour, experience dependent, for a minimum of 20 hours per week.
