CNN LA Expansion 2019, 655386, Rachel Metz
CNN senior tech writer Rachel Metz is among the layoffs at the news organization.
Metz said on Twitter that she will be looking for something new.
“When I started at CNN in late 2018, it was with the promise of a massive expansion of the tech reporting team, particularly in the Bay Area,” she wrote. “Instead, the opposite has happened, and it’s been awful to see a great team shrink.”
Metz was based in San Francisco and covered artificial intelligence, virtual reality and augmented reality.
She came to CNN Business from MIT Technology Review, where she had been a senior editor for mobile covering the ways humans and machines are connected. Before that, she was at the Associated Press from March 2007 to January 2012, where she also covered tech. Her writing has also appeared in The New York Times and Wired.
Metz is a graduate of University of California-Berkeley.
