She had been with Digiday for the previous five years, first as a senior writer and then UK media editor.
Before coming to Digiday, Southern was an associate editor at The Knowledge Engineers. She also held the post of an editorial assistant at Eve White Literary Agency. She also worked in marketing and digital media at Vinspired Lake of Stars.
Southern is a B.A. in English literature from Bath Spa University and a M.A. in English literature from the University of Bristol.
